Claude Now Draws Charts and Diagrams Right Inside Your Conversation
Anthropic is giving Claude a whiteboard.
Starting Thursday, Claude can generate charts, diagrams, and other visuals inline during conversations — not as generated images, but as interactive HTML and SVG elements that render directly in the chat. The feature works when Claude decides visuals would help explain something, or when users explicitly ask for a diagram.
According to Engadget, the visuals use HTML code and XML vector graphics rather than traditional image generation. Think: interactive charts, step-by-step diagrams, formatted recipe cards, and weather displays. The Nakamura lock paper airplane fold is one example — instead of describing the steps in text, Claude can now show you visually.
According to MacRumors, the feature is available to all Claude users regardless of subscription tier. However, it's still beta software, so expect quirks. Weather and recipe visuals currently only render on desktop — they don't work in the iOS app yet.
This isn't to be confused with Claude's existing Artifacts feature. According to Anthropic, this is different: it's giving Claude access to what the company describes as "its own whiteboard" for generating explanatory visuals on the fly.
The timing is notable: this drops just days after OpenAI enabled ChatGPT to generate interactive visuals for math and science explanations. The competition between Anthropic and OpenAI continues to expand beyond pure text into richer, more visual responses.
